Riches in the Middle East Revolution

Conflict in the Workplace COVID Survey

Over the past 4 weeks, my heart breaks reading the news about the Middle East Revolution. Yet looking at it from a different angle, I read about hope in the journey of these protesters, and feel pride in their peaceful approach.

In Egypt, hundreds of thousands celebrate with a victory march in Tahrir Square, after efforts of peaceful protesting. The crowd that gathered were chanting for freedom and democracy and carried Egyptian flags. They took a strong yet peaceful stand against the injustice and violence from the regime. Their movement was peaceful, and in giving peacefully they become rich with victory in the end. Although this is just the beginning for Egypt as it rebuilds itself, the peaceful movement has united those who protested, regardless of their gender, or social status, which is a big change from the past.

Another example of Give & Get Rich, is in Bahrain, where flowers have beaten the guns. These anti-government protesters are an example of giving what they intend to receive – Peace. Although angry that soldiers opened fire on a peaceful march injuring about 100 people, they brought flowers to lay for fallen people. Shortly after being approached, riot police retreated leaving the crowd to retake Pearl Square. “they took us out of here with force, and we took it back with peace – the flowers have beaten the guns” told a 22 year old Bahrain youth.

In Libya, the death toll rises as mourners clash with police, In Yemen, the President issues commands to attack protesters. But there is hope.

I can’t help but see the law of attraction through these stories of hope in the Middle East, as the peaceful nature of protests, is bringing people closer to peace than they have been for a very long time.

What we resist persists, yet what we give we get back.
