Gratitude is magic, it’s free or costs very little, and it has incredible results on business relationships because it reaches people on a deep emotional level; one that they will not easily forget.
From a scientific perspective, gratitude works within the law of vibration and the law of attraction. Everything and everyone can be broken down to vibrating masses of energy. With our energy, thoughts and feelings, we are like transmission towers, constantly emitting a vibrational frequency that seeks a match or harmony with a another like frequency, thus creating all of the events and circumstances that we experience in our lives. Plain English, we create our own existence with our energy.
How does this relate to gratitude? The key to creating a happy and abundant life, is to put our energy, thoughts and feelings into thinking great thoughts, having great feelings and doing good deeds. That’s easier said than done, but the act of showing gratitude is one sure fire way to transmit a good vibrational energy, which returns to us more of what we are expressing gratitude for. Being grateful is an action that you can take every day to bring more great things to you.
We can be grateful for our good health, and receive more of it. Gratitude toward our customers or clients, will bring more of them. Telling our staff, managers or employers that we are grateful for their good service, will bring us more good service. Telling others in our industry that we are grateful for their contribution, will bring value to our own contribution, and so on.
We can certainly be grateful for, and count many blessings. We live in a fast paced, consumer oriented and materialistic era, with a recent humbling touch of the economic state to give us a reality check of just what we do, and do not want. Being grateful for what we do have already, will attract more of what we want.
There is a lot we can do for our businesses, and ourselves to reap the benefits that gratitude has to offer without spending a fortune. An article, published in late 2005, revealed that employees would prefer regular, positive and genuine recognition for their contribution to an organization over lush Christmas and year-end parties, and even bonuses. I believe this preference would still hold true today.
A simple practice of counting your own blessings, showing gratitude to others for their specific contributions, and telling customers that you are grateful for their patronage goes a long way. It helps others feel good about the roles that they play in your success, and it creates a feel good energy for you too, which matches up with some other great energy and brings an abundance of wonderful things to you.
At a recent private seminar, the lesson in gratitude landed number one on the team’s action list for creating a greater business. They all decided that on their way to work, they would individually count their blessings and try to list 100 to 200 things that they are grateful for in their personal and work lives.
What you think about, and thank about, you bring about. Gratitude exercises result in improved moral, productivity, production and you guessed it … profit. Teams function better together because they feel good about themselves, each other, and have much more frequent positive communication than negative communication.
Whether its holiday cards, customer appreciation, staff parties, or gifts of sincere gratitude, you can be sure that any season is the season for gratitude, as it will get your team buzzing with enthusiasm.
With gratitude, I thank you for reading all year long,
