Are We Thriving or Just Surviving?

are we thriving or just surviving with Penny Tremblay

Although it may seem that we have survived one and a half years of pandemic upheaval, trends in workplace conflict indicate that we are not thriving.

Covid hasn’t gone away, things are constantly changing, and there is more conflict brewing under the surface that managers are going to want to root out and resolve.

Are we thriving or just surviving?

Have you noticed the shift in customer service lately?  The other day I was expected to wait on hold for two hours with my credit card company to speak to a representative, my phone call to a Government of Canada department was disconnected after holding for 40 minutes and even my dental office had a hold wait time that I just couldn’t afford to wait for.

Have you ordered things online and received the wrong thing, missing pieces in the box, or not received it at all?

Businesses are not thriving.  There are battle scars everywhere from COVID19 and the constant change and shifts that we were forced to make.

Emotionally, there are also scars.  Many people are waking up to a new opportunity of gathering and getting out, yet their habits of isolation have taken deep root.  This is referred to as Cave SyndromeAdjustment Disorder and the Pandemic Hangover.

Since our original research was done on the State of Workplace Conflict during COVID 19 the third wave has ended, over half of Canadians are vaccinated, yet, the conflict is surfacing.

Anxiety and stress is converting to burnout from the endurance of a long and arduous marathon of living in survival mode.  There is light at the end of the tunnel, but little energy left to enjoy it.
