Giving 100% – what does that mean?

Conflict in the Workplace COVID Survey

You often hear people suggest “give 100%” to something, to someone, and you will succeed.  What does this 100% mean?  Does it mean doing things perfectly?  NO.

What it means is that you COMMIT TO PARTICIPATING 100%.

It could be trying out for a part in a theatre production, playing golf, talking to your spouse, or working on a special committee at the office.  Whatever it is that you are doing, that you are participating 100% with ‘whatever it takes’ attitude to get the end result.

The challenge with many people is they want 100% results, but they only put in 40% or 60% or 80% effort.  When the going gets tough, they say, “I’ve done enough”, but they haven’t put in their all.  Then they wonder why they are not happy.  They blame other people or circumstances as obstacles, but really, their inner happiness meter knows the truth.  By pushing through with extra effort to get from 80 to 100%, they learn of their own excellence, and this increases self worth.

If we want to go for ‘magnificent’ on the results scale, we have to put in magnificent effort.  Giving 100% means committing 100% to participate 100%.

Go get ’em tiger!
